Yuri Shelnov is a major character in the American Crime Tales series who appears as the main antagonist of Tales from Queen City: The Ballad of Sean Killian. He is voiced by Darren Cohen.
Biography[]
Yuri Shelnov was born in 1944 in Moscow, Soviet Union to a Russian peasant family. As a child he witnessed his mother and sister get murdered at the hands of Joe Valirover's regime and he was forced to flee with his father. He lived in Kazakhstan from the 1950's-1960's during the World War II. This whole time he was abused by his father who was an alcoholic and eventually, Yuri found his father molesting his younger brother and it is said that then and then Yuri stabbed his father over 200 times with a knoife plus pissed on his body, then dumping his body in a nearby river along with all of his alcohol cans and KMFDM's mixtape, damn. During the 1970's and 80's he was a general in the Red Army, using his power to smuggle drugs within his unit with his brother. In the early 1990's, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Shelnov and his brother made their way to America where they settled in Queen City, which had a very large Eastern European population at the time run by the Serbs and Slovenes. Shelnov began by extorting the local businesses in Tidemouth Tides before becoming one of the most powerful Russian mob bosses in the City. By 2007 he was the 4th wealthiest man in Queen City.
Events of the Ballad of Sean Killian[]
In 2007, Shelnov became angered when it appeared that Irish mobster, Quinn O'Leary had stolen a lot of money from him. So he had his men kill Quinn which prompted the protagonist, Sean Killian to come to America. For the first part of the story, Shelnov is not only a huge character but the whole main antagonist after it is confirmed he had Quinn killed. Through the story, his crime family goes to war with the O'Leary Crew and the Irish mob begins dismantling Shelnov's family, piece by piece, heheh, 'til Shelnov finds his tongue. Shelnov attempts to stop these by having Killian killed but these attempts fail and result in more lost territory. Shelnov does gain the upper hand in the war for a short time and while but eventually begins losing again after the Gambinuchi Crime Family agrees to help take the Ruskies down and share the profits and if Killian kills Phil Furino, Shelnov's family becomes increasingly crippled with his nephew, Dimitri, even siding with the O'Leary crew. Shelnov attempts to have Sean Killian killed one last time but ends up killing his best friend, John Callahan. Killian gathers members of the O'Leary family later and they chase after Shelnov. After several shootouts and a long chase through Queen City, Shelnov kills Killian with a shot to the head.
