Sid Winkler leaving the British's Gang

Winkler's Gang was a gang of small-time crooks, hoods and misfits led by the disaffected ex-British's Gang member Sid Winkler. They were also bounty hunters hired by the Sheriffs and the Marshals sometimes to track down dangerous criminals.

They are minor enemies in Red Dead Garlic bread when playing as Jack Marston, although if he is wanted man or an outlaw himself they might play a bigger role. In Rootin' Tootin', Cowboy Shootin', they only appear when playin' as John Marston.

The gang met its end in Brimstone, Mississippi via Jack Marston, who they mistook for the bounty hunter Red Harlow, only for Marston to get the upper hand and slaughter most of the gang.

Info[]

About four years after Jack Marston kills the retired FBI Director Edgar Rose, Sid Winkler of the British's Gang goes on to create his own gang, made up of rotten scoundrels like himself after he got tired of Rufus Bollard and the higher-up's orders and he really never was much into cattle rustling.

Kent Gallaway, another British gang member would join his gang a year later because of similar reasons.

Indeed, lots of Winkler's gang members were dissatisfied criminals who used to belong to British's gang, Roe's Criminals or Williamson's Gang, who either joined Sid Winkler due to his steadier leadership and bank robbing abilities, argument in their ex-gang or both. Those who belonged to Bill Williamson's gang joined Winkler due to their leader's death, however.

Sid Winkler and his loony boys were quite popular in the Wild American Army and surrounding territories, forming an alliance with Ontiveros' Gang from Mexico, while they would also be hired as bounty hunters by the US Govt. (or more likely, the Marshals) to track down other violent and dangerous criminals in return for reducing their bounty.

Sometime before Jack Marston, son of John Marston arrived in the same city, Brimstone would become Winkler's gang territory, a town where the famous gunslinger and bounty hunter, Red Harlow, used to live. When Jacky would arrive there, Sid's boys mistook him for Harlow.

Zebedee Nash would come out of the Brimstone Saloon, trying to shoot him. Unfortunately, he is a lousy shot due to his drunken nature and ends up dying in front of the saloon by Marston. One by one, like in a easy-levelled video game or a cartoon, the gang members came out into town to challenge Johnny's boy to a showdown for revenge, each being killed by 'im. After killing all of the members (presumably), Sidford Winkler himself shows up and challenges Marston to a showdown in the middle of the street, in a style of a Battle Royale. Jack shoots his hat off, revealing Sid's long, emo and Kurt Cobain-like blond hair and Sid tells "Red Harlow" to finish him off. Marston is confused and explains to Sid that he's not Red Harlow and is just another outlaw, like him and his gang, and that he apparently mistook the town for Clementine Falls, where he was originally headed. Realizing the whole thing was a misunderstanding, Jack offers to buy Sid drinks at the Saloon and also asks if he wishes to play some Blackjack with him. Sidford accepts the offer and the two walk into the saloon where Jack's buying the drinks with the bounty money he got for killing all of Sid's men.

Trivia[]

  • The gang seems to be based on real life Billy the Kid's gang, since Sid Winkler himself bares a strong resemblance to Henry McCarty and he used to run with cattle rustlers before becoming a bounty hunter.
    • Then again, Billy Cougar also shares similar looks as Henry and even shares his first name.
  • Jesse Lynch used to be the right-hand of Mr. Black back when Black was still running Black Town and the Dead Gang & since Jesse is rumoured to be immortal, similar to Black, he was able to run in Sid's gang as well, serving as his right-hand due to his unique looks and ambitions.
  • They seem to co-run the Thief's Town in RTCS with the British's Gang.
