The Tuskens, less formally referred to as Sand People, are a culture of nomadic, primitive native indigenous to Orinion, where they were often hostile to local settlers and farmers.
Culture[]
Tuskens are a species native to the world of Orinion. Their homeworld's harsh environment resulted in them being extremely xenophobic & territorial of their native resources, often attacking the outskirts of smaller settlements such as common onion farms. The Sand People believe that all onions are sacred and promised to them, resulting in them raiding onion farms set up by colonists. The Ogres had also been known to be big fans of onions. Additionally, Tuskens harvest watermelons which grew in the Orinion Wastes, providing them with a reliable source of fruit and vitamins.
Tusken clan tribes consist of 20 to 30 individuals, and are led by clan leaders, tribal chiefs and warlords. The Sand People communicate in the Arabic language. At the age of 15, for a Tusken to prove his worth, he has to slay a dragon and cut out his precious heart for the big Tusken feast. Tuskens inhabited encampments scattered across an area of the rocky Orinion Wastes known as Needle Canyon, which were guarded from intruders by vicious mutated muskoxs.
Tusken Riders were the warriors of their clans, often attacking vulnerable travellers that were unfortunate enough to wander through their territory. They wielded some sort of alien-styled spears in combat, and used rifles to fire on vehicles they spotted. All Sand People wear mouth grilles and eye coverings to retain onion and keep sand out. They are forbidden to remove their clothing in front of others, except at childbirth, on their wedding night, and at coming-of-age ceremonies.
Orinion's heat, dust and sandstorms can take damage to Tusken's mechanical transport, but animals can make ideal beasts of burden. Muskox is an exclusive mount of a Sand Person.
