"There is hunger! My ppl all suffer! No pigs and dogs left, what we eat for supper!? All I eat are sea algaes and fish, what these yumans don't understand? I wasted all of the town's budget on my private bodyguards."
Marshall Deep One

Thief's Town is a settlement in Red Dead Garlic bread part I and IV and Rootin' Tootin', Cowboy Shootin'. It is a town populated entirely with criminal scum and is north of Sand's Grass region of Texas. It is similar to Revolvers Black Town.

The town is in competition with northeastern's Stormalong Harbour on which is the better dock and port town.

Info[]

Thief's Town sits on the western shore of Fat Iron Lake and serves as a major port for the region and surrounding regions, with most of the non-criminal residents being dockworkers or warehouse workers at the shipping yard. The warehouse near the yard is owned by one Eddie Savoy, who employs criminals into his warehouse organisation. No sheriffs or cops reside there, despite the town being under the federal government jurisdiction, as the Mayor Marshall Deep One is in the pocket of the criminals running the town, so he makes sure the government doesn't send the police there to investigate. Due to this, Winkler's Gang, British's Gang, Roe's Criminals and two to three members of the Irish's Gang loiter everywhere, earning Thief's Town its name and they sometimes even work as Deep One's bodyguards. Fistfights, object/melee fights and shootouts between gangs or residents are common and women, especially prostitutes, are not safe in this town at all. They may also get kidnapped or robbed but are mostly killed by angry customers armed with knives, butcher, Bowie or otherwise because they either didn't jerk them off enough or charged too much.

Wild poses, robbed shopkeepers, robbed residents, corrupted dock bosses, and sold stolen cattle are the main source of income for the town. The gangs fully enjoys the lawlessness of this port town as do other trouble-making folk. However, if one punches any member of the British gang or any other gang for that matter, the criminal scum will protect each other and will assist one another against the aggressor if provoked. Gambling is also common here, along with shady practices such as drug dealing.

The murky, stinky and rain town symbolises the southern United States filled with French people or those of Francophone or Cajun descent, especially with the surrounding swamps and bayous, the wooden architecture, and the dark, humid and humourless atmosphere. Dragonflies, gators and bats are common in this area. The nearby Mason's bride and Dixon's Bridge are references to the Mason-Dixon Line and the hotel plus brothel, the Dixie Rose Hotel, is also a reference to this. Despite being in the south and serving as the Confederate Army's checkpoint during the American Civil War, not a lot of racist people are found in Thief's Town.

Interactions[]

RTCS[]

Thief's Town is largely populated by members of Winkler's Gang, many of whom are also on Marshall Deep One's payroll. It is not advised for Arthur Morgan or John Marston to wander here for too long. Shaky is also present in Thief's Town, giving the player some missions in which they need to get him some drugs. Sid Winkler himself, along with Willie Bollard and his British's Gang can also be seen in tow in town.

Thomas Winkfield's mission in-where he needs to be protected by a bunch of Butcherflys also begins and ends in this location. If possible, Johnny Marsten can play blackjack here with Dr. Francis Moon and Gaston Tidmore.

American West[]

Crimes committed in the town will not incur a bounty since there is a total absence of any form of law and Texas Sheriffs will not follow the player into Thief's Town when chased. If the player's killstreak of innocent people is over 38, the merchants in Thief's Town will sell items at half the rate of the original price and offers to sell stuff will be granted double the rate.

This town is still the home to Winkler's boys and the British boys, but now even a couple of Roe's Criminals can be found here (until their disbandment) and at least one member of the Irish's Gang, usually Quinn Malloy. This town is also Scot's turf, where he robs religious ppl and is also the turf of other criminals. Rafael Carrillo, otherwise a ranch-hand at MacFarlane's, makes this his spot to commit crimes.

Once in every 60 years or so, Lord Shinnok visits this town to play some liar's dise or blackjack, but has since been thrown into boiling pits of lava and he ain't comin' anymore, ppl.

Undead Nightmare[]

In the Undead Nightmare part, this is one of 23 locations that must be cleared of the zombies and then protected from the undead re-infestation thereafter, hehe.

When the undead overrun this lawless harbour and port, many of the buildings caught fire, including the Saloon. Burned books (including the buy-bull) can be found all over town, chairs knocked over and thrown into the water, dock workers being hung from lampposts, prostitutes getting devoured by the undeads, outlaws hiding in the basement of the Dixie Rose and Vampire-looking bats can be found helping the zombies eat the lawless scoundrel. Sid Winkler, Louis Granger, Gaston LeGume, and Meaty McSwain were able to find a safe refuge in the town and began to fight back against these undead invaders while Mayor Deep One is hiding in his mansion, probably rooting for the undeads to win.

Once the town is safe, the player may obtain Fire Bottles and... TNT!? Why couldn't it be beacon and beens!? Oh and the Mayor will thank the player for saving his town and his mansion, even if he did root for the zombies.

Trivia[]

  • If the player assaults a gang member, the others will retaliate and usually kill him. Generally, rough Mexicans who ride through Thief's will engage in a shootout with the gangs, although they usually lose. This includes Rafael Carillo and his boys, like Hector and Alberto Delpuerto.
  • As of 2014 or 14 AH, Good boy points are an acceptable currency in Thief's Town.
  • In both RD cowboy games, the Mayor makes a cameo role.
  • Very rarely, a couple of Banditos can be found in the town, sharing a rivalry with the gangs. However, that only happens 4 times or 5 times a year or so.
  • Shinnok used to visit this place when in yuman form.
  • If Arthur Morgan comes here with a high honour, he'll be attacced.
  • Javier Escuella and Sergio Abelda used to hang around here.
  • Dr. Francis Moon technically serves a similar role to the criminals as Dr. Grupo Fabinović does to the Stracci Family.
  • This is the only town where the player can buy the British's Gang Outfit.
  • The sun blows and shows up at around 6 A.M., but only for a few moments before the sky darkens again. The Morningstar can then be seen again at around 5:30 P.M. for about half an hour before night falls. During the night, the moon may show up and shine on the town, while a witch riding her broomstick will also be seen.
  • Some exoskeletons of sea dinosaurs can be seen at the bottom of the lake/sea.
  • The dark atmosphere might even blind the player and the residents in the town for a few secs and while this is happening, Lord Chernobog can be heard laffin'.
  • According to rumours, newspaper reports and mods, a Saurian can be seen hiding behind trees of Thief's Town and Marshall Deep One can be seen swimming underwater for sport.
  • Outside Willy's saloon, there was a mangled and greyed-out corpse sitting on a box besides a lamp with a wooden sign that read "Cheater" on it. The corpse was presumably strangled and burned a littel by the British's Gang and Harry Dobbing put it there.
  • This is the only town, other than the abandoned Black Town, Thompson Town and rarely Fallen Creek, where bats can be heard and seen.
    • Similar to Black Town, every lawmen who ever ventured to Thief's Town found himself doomed.
  • The dockyard is named Morning Star, after the Fallen Archangel, The Prince Lucifer.
  • Thief's Town is a rotten swamp of a place.
  • There are many statues and photos of Mayor Deep One in town, along with a lot of pictures representing Confederate Generals, including Baxter Harmless and Robert E. Lee and Confederate flags can be found in the Dixie and Seaweed hotels.
  • Thief's Town has a variety of nationalities, similar to Gold Town, ranging from Italian, French, British, American, Irish, Afro and Mexican.
  • It is unknown what the beef between Rafael Carrillo and his Mexican pals is with the griminal scum of this town.
  • This town is possibly the town that was referenced in Janez Bibibip's theme sonk. One of Janez's descendants even travelled here once on a gambling trip.
  • During the Undead Nightmare, a lot of undeads here wear red kerchiefs, meaning they belonged to British's, Roe's and Winkler's gangs.
  • The fags sold at the general store are Redwood's.
  • Thief's Town can and will, smash Stormalong Harbour's as.
  • If the player hogties a member of the Indian Gang and brings the sucker here, all of the criminals will open fire and kill him. This would imply that the gangs in town hold a rivalry with the Native gang.
