The Flatwoods Monster, like the Mothman, is a presumed extraterrestrial creature from West Virginia which was spotted in Flatwoods, and Frametown by a lot of common folk. The neigh-sayers believe it to be nothing more than an owl sitting on a tree and screeching, but there ain't no evidence for owls to cause nauseating aura followed by severe illnesses that last for weeks, unlike with the Braxie case.
First Sighting[]
At exactly 7:15 PM on September 12, 1952 (48 BH on Redwood calendar) on a foggy night, three little boys whomst were playing on a crappy playground witnessed a hole in the sky, following it a bright object cross the sky, like some UFO; presumably it was the Monster's spaceship. The object came to land on a green land belonging to the local vegetarian farmer. Once they saw the shiny, shiny thing land, the three amigos went to one of the mom's houses, where they reported seeing the giant and shiny UFO crash-land in the hills with no explanation. From there, the boys and a group of locals went to the hills and farm to try to find what on Earth just that thing was, but it weren't from Earth.
One of the local's dog, a Bagel, ran ahead and out of sight and started barking its loud barks, and moments later ran back to the group with its tail between its legs. After travelling about ¼ of a mile, the human group reached the top of the hill, where they saw a large pulsating "ball of fire!" about 50 feet away which almost burnt their eyes. They also saw (and smelled) a green mist that made their eyes and noses burn and almost melt. A farmer then noticed two small lights over to the left of the crashed object, and directed his flashlight towards them. From out of the shadows, a tall figure slowly emerged. It was the Flatwoods Monster! The Creature was angry, and emitted a bunch of shrill hissing noises before gliding towards them with its iron-suit, changing directions and then heading off towards the red light where her UFO was reportedly crashed. At this point the group fled in panic in terrifying fear.
Upon returning home, the mother contacted the local sheriff called Lemon and a news reporter. The reporter conducted a number of interviews and returned to the site with the farmer later that foggy and cold night, where he reported that "there was a sickening, burnt, metallic odour still prevailing." The sheriff and his deputy searched the area separately, but found no trace of the encounter. It has been concluded that The Monstrosity vanished without a single trace or sumfin'.
Second Encounter[]
Early the next morning at around 6 AM, the reporter visited the site of the encounter for a second time and discovered two tracks in the mud, as well as traces of a thick black liquid. He immediately reported them as being possible signs of the saucer landing based on the premises that the area had not been subjected to traffic for at least a year. It was later revealed that the tracks were likely to have been those of a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a local farmer, who had gone to the site to look for the creature some hours prior to the shocking discovery. Seeing no other explanation and not knowing what the UFO was fuelled on, the journalist claimed the farmer's theory to be true.
Third Encounter[]
After the event, investigators associated with Civilian Saucer and UFO Investigation, obtained a number of accounts from witnesses who claimed to have experienced a similar or related phenomena of the Braxie. These accounts included the story of a mother and her 21 year-old-daughter, who claimed to have encountered a Zaterran alien with the same appearance and odour a week prior to the September 12 incident; the encounter reportedly affected the daughter so badly that she was confined to a hospital for three weeks and the alien was about 9'8" feet tall and spoke in a foreign language. They also gathered a statement from the mother of another local vegan farmer, in which she said that, at the approximate time of the crash, her house had been violently shaken and her radio had cut out for 45 minutes. More scary is that a report from the director of the local Board of Education came in on radio instantly, in which he claimed to have seen a flying saucer taking off at 6:30 on the morning of September 13th (the morning after the creature was sighted).
Last Encounter[]
The day after the Flatwoods incident, a couple taking a leisurely drive through the mountain mamas of Frametown, West Virginia, at dusk were met with a similarly horrific and terrific experience. Their car came to a sudden stop and refused to start again even though the tank was almost full. Shortly thereafter, a putrid sulfuric odor filled the air and it looked like the Gates of Hell had opened. The couple, circling the vehicle in hopes of spotting the alien or a demon, spotted something far worse than they could have imagined; A reptilian creature, possibly a Saurian by specie, which looked almost the same as the Flatwoods Monster, hissing at the two like an owl. The couple's car started running again however, and the two scaredy cats drove away from the spade head.
Mothman connection[]
The Flatwoods Monster sprung into existence sometime after the Mothman theory began to plague the town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Point Pleasant was able to turn their local cryptid into a major source of tourism, and it is now the city's main source of revenue, similar happened in Braxton and people began to assume that the two monsters may be the same goddam specie and that the Monster might even be the Mothman's bride or wife. The latest sighting of both creatures was a couple of blue moons and a year ago near the abandoned WW II bunker in WV, where the Mothman presumably lives, where Mothman and the Monster were both seen hissing at the by-passing cars and later started throwing large, meteorite-like rocks at the cars. When one driver stopped his Ford Fiesta to check the bunker to see what all the fuss was about, he was never seen from again. It is highly rumoured that the creatures killed him then ate his body and only his car remained, outside of the bunker.
An owl?[]
Some folk theorise that the Flatwoods Monstrosity, is in fact, a barn owl. You see, them kids and locals who went into the dark night up on that hill that fateful day actually saw a meteorite flying down from the sky onto the Earth and thus, it weren't no spaceship. When they scattered around, a barn owl, who was sitting on the tree with her legs spread to look like the Monster's arms, hissed her evil hisses and flyed towards the group as it felt threatened, and below her was a shiny trash can that looked like the Monster's suit. Could be, but if that's the case, how does one explain the green mist, the odor and the fact that them people felt sick for weeks after the encounter? Was the owl poisoned? Was it experimented on by the Govt.? That remains to be known. Also, while this may shut down the first case, what about the others? Why would the good people of West Virginia (Mountain mama!), lie like this? Truth is, they weren't lying. There was some... Saurian-like creature walking on Earth that month and while it may be gone... We can never tell for how long the Flatwoods Monster will be gone. Will it one day return with her entire planet and invade ours? We'll see.
What about the Mothman? Hell, I doubt it was just a "large, red-haired bird" in all of those encounters with him.
Trivia[]
- Some people have even gone so far to label our dear Flatwoods Monster as a Demon from the Never Never Land. It is more likely the Monster is a member of the long, lost forgotten race of Saurians who once inhabited Earth but were forced to leave due to the war between the Elder Gods and fled to Zaterra. Since Zaterra was merged with Outworld, the tin-can Monster could be a resident from Outworld and one of the last members of her specie.
- The bald, but friendly doctor who treated several of the witnesses has reported to have described their symptoms as being just like the ones of an exposed mustard gas used by the French during WW I.
- Perhaps the Monster is an old relic of WW I who seeks revenge against humanity so humans can atone for their war-mongering ways.
- If the Monster is indeed a Reptilian, it is possible she could be from the same theories that David Icke spreads. However, there is no connection between this Monster and the British Royal family or the Borlinghathen's.
- She is mistakenly called the One Being.
