Clyde The Blade Slade is a minor villain character featured in Red Dead Revolver.
Info[]
Clyde is one of the only two holdovers from the days when Preston O'Leary ran the circus. When Preston's tent was set ablaze outside of Black Town, Oswald Perry took over and employed Slade and the presumed perpetrator of the fire, Lightning LaRouche. He is a classic circus knife thrower, but is also a lot more. Rumour has it that O'Leary was about to fire him for "missing" too many assistants in the knife act, implying he killed the fuakers.
Interactions[]
Jack Swift encountered the Blade Slade first during the level "Freakshow", where he attempts to stop Jacky from rescuing Katie O'Grady. Slade is the first mini-boss in this level. When Swift depletes half of his life force, while either avoiding or shooting at Perry's clowns, Lightning LaRouche jumps out of Widow's Palace's Sheriff's office and burns it to the ground, ready to charge at Jackson.
When he is fought, Slade mainly runs around, climbing on roofs of the blacksmith or the livery and is avoiding Jack, letting the clowns and LaRouche take care of Jack. When cornered, however, he attacks viciously with his knives, throwing them or slashing at Jack, while taunting him or laughing maniacally, he is one crazy freak anyway. The biggest threat from Slade comes in the likely form that he will attack Katie if Jack gets too far away from her. While Katie is getting slashed across the stomach and boobs by Slade, clowns, under the leadership of Fidgit, will attempt to rape Katie. If Jack does nothing while this is happening, Slade and the clowns will have their way while LaRouche will burn Jack to a crisp and the mission will fail.
However, in the current and canon timeline, Slade was killed by Swift with his Twin Revolvers after being shot down while climbing the roof of the blacksmith's. Following Slade's death, LaRouche was next, right before Atlas Jones and Professor Perry himself show up.
Showdown[]
The player unlocks The Blade Slade as a playable character in Showdown by successfully purchasing the Hillbilly Stove from the Gunshop in Brimstone or at the beginning of the mission "Sunset Canyon". His weapon of choice is an Inquisitor and some throwing Commandos. His special ability is throwing at least 6 of his Commando Knife at the opponent's limbs, killing him instantly. This ability also works if Clyde uses bottles - beer, tequila, whiskey or otherwise. Interestingly, Blade is also a big fan of using long-ranged weapons, so when an opponent drops a rifle or a bow, it is almost certain that Slade will use that sucker for the rest of the match or until he is killed.
Journal Entry[]
Clyde "The Blade" Slade was one of the two, TWO performers back from O'Leary's days before that Joker-like freak Perry took over. Nevertheless, rumour has it that O'Leary was going to fire him for "missing" too many assistants in the knife act.
Trivia[]
- His role in Red Dead Revolver 3dn edition was portrayed by the miner, Mickey Conway, who has quite a similar story to Slade.
- Selecting him as the second player will colour his hair black. Likewise, the 4th model will colour them grey or silver.
- In beta, Slade was supposed to have blue eyes and have some weird Japanese facepaint on his... well, face.
- Slade is also a multiplayable character model in Red Dead Online. He doesn't have such a fuaked up face there. Probably because the Online session takes place years before Revolver and Rootin' Tootin', Cowboy Shootin'.
