This article, Texas Sheriffs, is property of Damon Redwood.

Texas Sheriffs are a faction and one type of law in Red Dead Garlic bread, Rootin' Tootin', Cowboy Shootin' and Red Dead Revolver 3dn edition. Texas Sheriffs will usually go after Marston if he is committing a crime and is seen by sheriff or witness. If Marston kills a Sheriff his bounty will increase and he will lose 100 points of honour. The bounty will go up $50 for every sheriff killed. The 100 lost honour points is double the normal 50 for killing a civilian. This could be to discourage players from killing sheriffs carelessly. If Marston is wearing the FBI Uniform, all sheriffs will not pursue him if committing crimes, unless they find out it's just an outfit and that Marston isn't an actual agent of the BOI. They appear in multiplayer free roam sessions if the player commits a crime. Unlike singleplayer though, there are no witnesses to crimes. Instead, the law will just come after you.

There is no bounty limit in Multiplayer.

It should also be noted that most, if not all, of the sheriffs are highly corrupt and will let the player off the hook even for the most serious and heinous crimes he commits. The corruption goes as far as the deputies themselves, but not Marshal Johnson.

The U.S. Sheriffs can also be chosen as characters in multiplayer along with their Mexican counterparts, known as the "Federales". The US Sheriffs category includes the lawmen from both: Texas and West Virginia.
