Spy is the second lowest rank in the Mafia. It is below soldier and above assassin. "Spy" is one of the lowest ranks that can be in Mafia, due to their strict rules where they can rarely gain status, but there are exceptions.

In the gang, a spy is a person who is not yet a Soldier, who is rather high-ranking. Spys can also be Don's blood family members.

History

In the mob, a spy is a rank that is right below the rank of soldier, meaning that you are not yet a made man, which means that you are not a "full" member of the Mafia, but still a rather high member. Spys are generally not from the country that Don is from. Famous mob spys included are Sergio Turrera, Mickey Cohen, Croc Stracci, and Nicky Corleone. They are not as payed as soldiers, but they are paid more than an assassin. Spys can also be a relative of the Don, but instead of choosing to be a Capo or Underboss of the family, they chose to be Spys. Spys do not get affiliated with the family business too much.
