Sergei Joseph Rimsky was born on October 1, 1943 in Magadan, Russia to a poor family which lived in a block of flats or apartments. After dropping out of high school because he was getting tired of learning and bad grades, Sergei joined up with the Koloff Family in the 1960's and finally escaped poverty. Sergei proved to be a loyal member of the organisation and a reliable soldier for the Don, Nicolai Koloff, eventually becoming a capo. In 1980, Vladimir Paglovoič, another Koloff capo, planned on betraying the Don and usurping his position as the boss. He revealed his plan to Sergei and asked him if he will join him in his coup d'etat, earning the position as his Underboss. Sergei agreed, but faked loyalty and instead ratted Vladimir out to Koloff's right-hand, Ludmilla Drago and Vladimir was beaten and thrown into the river with bricks tied to his ankles for his betrayal. Rimsky was praised for his actions and was moulded into becoming the next underboss after Ludmilla's death. After seeing Archduke Ivan Drago's potential in the boxing ring, Sergei agreed to become his personal trainer, along with Manuel Vega, another Koloff capo and a good friend of the two. The two trainers would eventually grind Drago's flaws to polish and turn him into an ultimate killing machine, just like how his wife and Nicolai intended.
