Salvatore O'Brien was a member of the Bowery Gang but was killed by Charlie Trapani in 2009 after beating him up in The Godfather Game. He had a younger brother who also worked for the Bowery gang.

Nothing is known about Sally's earlier life, only that he was born in Ireland to an Irish father and Italian mother with his brother but later moved to France with him, more specifically Little Town, and at some point joined the Bowery Gang with his brother in Bowery. They were involved in minor crimes like robbery but sometimes even assault and possibly murder.
Whilst beating up Charlie Trapani for even daring to demand his cut in their latest heist, his leader, Nathan Healy, got his back bashed to death with a tire iron by Luca Brasi, who was looking for Charlie to recruit him into the Corleone Family.

Brasi held the gang member, Stephano Gomzano up against a wall whilst Charlie killed Sal in a duel. Sally was actually quite a coward when he was put up alone against Trapani, begging him to spare him, but Trapani would show no mercy and he snapped his neck like a twig after uppercutting him, killing Sal, Gomzano and a few moments later, Sal's bro as well.
