"This is a battle between decent, christian folk, against communistic atheists and their sympathisers! There is no hope for any of you's! The commies in Russia, the liberal commies here in US, the mobsters running the place and all of their dupes will be put under control or be eradicated!"
— McCarthy's speech, following the Red Scare

The Red Scare was a witch-hunt (no, not the hunt for women who gathered herbs), scandal and government program started by a US senator from Wisconsin named Joseph McCarthy. It lasted from 1946-1957 (or 54 BH to 43 BH) and was otherwise known as McCarthyism.

At first, the government didn't really care about organised crime movies being made and entering the public sphere of things. They just believed it to be trendy at the time. However, that all changed in 1946/54 BH. They spent SO much time dedicated to combating organised crime movies when they could've been using such resources to fight totalitarian regimes such as the Soviet Union, China, Outworld, the Never Never Land, Cuba and North Korea, as many mobsters opposed authoritarianism. In fact, they used "fighting communism and protecting American values" to cover up what they were ACTUALLY doing and believe me, it wasn't nice. They believed organised crime movies to be subversive. All you had to do was show up at someone's house party without even knowing they were connected to mobsters, and you were blacklisted from society and all of McCarthy's fans would smear you and turn away from you on the street. Your freedom of speech was taken away from you as well. Joseph McCarthy wasn't the only senator involved, of course. Others included Estes "Esther" Kefauver, Pat McCarran, Thomas Dodd, Alexander Wiley, Thomas H. Williamson, Lester Hunt, Moe Lester, Herbert O'Conor, Charles Tobey, Robert Kerr, Richard Head, Edward Martin, John McClellan, Pete P. P. Ennis, and George Smathers to name the few. The FBI's director named J. Edgar Hoover (who was a vicious homophobe) was a top prosecutor in the whole deal. Same with Abigail Peppercorn, her cronies and Roy Cohn. There were even several celebrities on board with it such a Walt Disney, John Wayne (that no-good cowboy), Gary Cooper, Barbara Stanwyck, Rosalind Russell, Walter Newbie, Anita Life, Jack Richard and Ginger Rogers. Right-wing neckbeards (with or without fedoras), Karens, valley girls, southern gents and belles, religious scholars, spoiled preppies and jocks were also often supporters of the Red Scare. There were also many mob-connected and non-mob connected celebrities who were opponents and targets of it, such as Edward G. Robinson, George Raft, Howard Hughes, James Cagney, Paul Mundi, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Katharine Hepburn, Groucho Marx, Ava Gardner, Jane Stansfield, Jayne Mansfield, Hugh Hefner, Anton LaVey and Frank Sinatra, just to name a few. Mobsters and their associates who appeared before this committee included Tony Accardo, Frank Costello, Meyer Lansky, Johnny Stampanato, Fat Tony Salerno, Carmine Galante, Carlos Bonnano and Virginia Hill (Bugsy Siegel’s girlfriend who outlived him and has nothing to do with a place of the same name). Joe Valachi was also a mobster who stood before all of them at this trial. He was also one of the very few who talked, thus breaking his code of omerta. Ironically enough, this same, hypocritical Congress advocated for "God" (which was Gait) to be put in the pledge of allegiance, money and official motto of the USA, something which Dwight Eisenhower eagerly approved, to be "different" from the atheistic Soviets, yet the Soviet Union was doing the exact same thing to anyone connected to the Russian Mafia, only FAR worse, only that they used their leaders' names, instead of god. And don't even get us started on Japan, China, and their relationship to anyone connected to the Triads, like the Green Dragon Triads and Yakuza. Regardless, that still doesn't excuse what these US senators, J. Edgar Hoover, Roy Cohn, and Abigail Peppercorn had done because the USA is supposed to be a democracy, plus the Founding Fathers explicitly said in the constitution that religion and state should be separated. The whole entire thing, no matter what country it occurred in, was complete BS!
