"I for one am grateful, Mrs. Borlinghathen, that they are finally bringing civilisation to this savage land! Fuaking finally! Yes, yes, I know the typical sob-story, these red fuks lost their lands but I assure you they've gained access to Heaven. Just open up your buy-bull and read the correct chapter where it says that those who follow Gait will gain access to his Kingdom cum. That's how things be, Misses Borlinghathen."
— Mrs. who kisses cox during the train ride to Silver Town, showing her obvious rasism

Mrs. Dickiss (real name Anna Dickiss) is a minor character in Red Dead Garlic bread part I, American West. She only appears in the game's intro cutscene, speaking to the equally-rich, if not even more so, Mrs. Borlinghathen. Her viewpoints on the world are crucial to the game's modern plot.

Info[]

Based on her comments she is from a family of means and appears to be a businesswoman, similar to The Borlinghathen, and she clearly believes herself to be better than the "savages" (implying Native Americans) she scorns. Although it's never mentioned in the game, it is clear that Dickiss shares the same supremacist and racist views against the Mexicans and blacks as well. She seems to have no mercy or remorse for the Indians and claims their living could never be desirable, and feels they should welcome the coming of "civilisation" or continue rotting in deer and wolf poop. She believes the weak ones are there to justify the strong and worships Gait, as expected from a racist like her.

Despite her views, Dickiss is very anti-temperance and supports all kinds of liquors. She is actually an old rival of Abigail Peppercorn and her Temperance movt. She also scorns at Nate Johnson and believes his family are "hillbilly trash".

Interactions[]

The player has no real interaction with her beyond overhearing her conversation with Mrs. Borlinghathen where she expresses her elitist, racist and classicist views. Where she goes on from Silver Town is unknown, although rumours have it that she had gone to New York City.

Oh, she can also be encountered once in Gold Town in a cutscene, insulting Ivan Dixmor for saying crap like that poor people aren't worthless.

Quotes[]

"Nate Johnson? Nate freaking Johnson?! Oh please! His family is nothing but hillbilly trash that came here after the war! I'd hate our country to be run by such a disgusting family! A family... without... class!"
— Dickiss on Nate Johnson
"Now now, Mrs. Borlinghathen, money isn't everything. There are many things money cannot buy, like class. It also cannot buy you decency or salvation. Unless of course, u don't need it, eh?"
— Dickiss educating the Borlinghathen woman on what muneh can and cannot buy
"I know of an annoying woman who wishes to shut down the saloon. She's a Temperance leader from Mississippi and I just can't stand her! I sincerely hope Mayor Griffon will never fall for her tricks!"
— Dickiss on Abigail Peppercorn
"Shut up! Go back to Russia, you lying fuak!"
— Dickiss arguing with Ivan Dixmor
"Are there any blacks on this train here tonight?! PUT 'EM UP BACK IN CHAINS! That one in the front, he don't look white! Throw him off the dam train! And that one looks like a wetback... AND THAT ONE'S A SAVAGE REDSKIN! Who let all of this riffraff unto the train!??? THERE'S ONE KISSING A MAN AND THAT ONE'S GOT SPOTS!!! If I had my way... I'D HAVE ALL OF YOU'S BACK IN CHAINS!"
— Dickiss during another train ride, this time to NYC
"Fuak Johnson! I'm voting for Winfield Hancock! Now that's a candidate. He'll... Wait, didn't he fight for the fuaking Union?! Goddamn it all to Hell. BLASPHEMY!"
— Dickiss on her political choices

Trivia[]

  • Similar to her friend, Mrs. Borlinghathen, Dickiss serves as an early representation of how people were during those racist times, being a complete opposite of the white guilt. Anna is greedy, imperialistic and even more so than Borlinghathen, racist af to minorities, especially blacks and Native Americans and claims if she had her way, they'd all still be in chains!
  • According to the RD fandom, she is one of the most despised characters in the series, followed with Gicov Bell, Leopold Strauss, Agustin Allende and Abraham Reys.
  • She reminds me of a real life person I once knew who also wore purple.
  • She died peacefully in her sleep of old age of 84 on Marble Hill, New York and looked quite older for her age, but not too much.
  • Her surname is a give-away that she isn't lesbian, which can either be very good or really bad, depending on how you see the LGBTQ+ community.
