Moon Kalamari is a Malastrian loyalist and personal adviser to the Emperor of Outworld Shao Kahn. At the time of Nightmare's failed takeover of Duro, Kalamari advised his Emperor and his militia to ally with Rafael Sorel and his army, at least for a while to get rid of the Azure Knight once and for all.

A proponent of military action against the enemies of Outworld, the loyalist advocated the same tactics as his master; no more sithy Mortal Kombat Tournaments thanks to the Elder Gods' defeat, only negotiations and conquering by force.
It was Moon's clever tacticasation and wit which led to Outworld taking over Duro after Nightmare's defeat and subsequent defeat of the Sorel Empire as well.
The Malastrian adviser was present in the Kahn's office when Rafael's general Strife Astlar sent a holographic message to Outworld, warning that the planet Dac had formed a large militia he got loaned from Emperor Palpatine of Earth-2, and that they need Outworld's assistance in fending off Palp's fiends. Astlar stated that only Kahn's army would be powerful enough to help them defend their planet, as most of Sorel's assassins and forces were already beaten by Admiral Doren's men, whom also discovered the secrets of Shao Kahn's personal life n' sith. As such, Moon received orders to travel with his squad to Duro to assist in Strife's defences.
Moon and the Kahn's Army succeed, but in return for helping out Strife, Rafael Sorel had to give his rule over the planet to Shao Kahn, as without the Emperor's help, Duro would surely be doomed!
Death[]
Although not stated how he died specifically, Moon met his end at the hands of the wizard Wizzrobe in Kahn's castle when Azazel and half of his planet's entire army invaded Outworld.

- His specie called Malastrian originated from the planet called Neon before it exploded in the year 2000, a couple of years before Shao Kahn managed to conquer it. If the planet were conquered, it is unknown if Kalamari would have any loyalty to the Kahn, as he would probably be in a similar situation as Nitara. However, he could also have the same viewpoint as Baraka, who supported Kahn's reign of terror over his planet.
- He is one of the few Malastrians who were able to escape to Outworld (or any other planet, rlly) before it exploded from similar reasons as Chernobyl.
- Where his loyalty to the Emperor sterms from is unknown.
