Maxwell “Max” Payne (born May 31, 1971) is an American DEA agent and NYPD officer from three games within the Max Payne series from 2001, 2003, and 2012. His wife and baby were killed by drug cartels in 1998 and Max Payne has sworn revenge on organised criminals ever since! He also used to be in a somewhat romantic relationship with an Italian-Russian-American woman named Mona Sax, who died in the second game from 2003. Max Payne shares some similarities to Cole Phelps from L.A. Noire. He also gives his enemies Payne to the Max level!
