Private Leonard Lawrence, AKA Gomer Pyle, or Private Pyle, is a character in Full Metal Jacket. He is a clumsy, dimwitted and overweight man who is always made fun of by Gunnery Sergeant Henry Hartman for his incompetence. He named his rifle Charlene. After being yelled at continually and bullied, he snapped and shot Sergeant Hartman and then shot himself in his open mouth. He is played by actor Vincent D'Onofrio.
