Lasso to John Marston

The Lasso is a loop of rope that is designed to be thrown around a target and tightened when pulled. It can hunt cattle and people and can also be used to pull objects around. It appears mostly in the Red Dead series.

"Julias Ricketts used this very lasso to hogtie the biggest buffalo ever recorded in these here parts."
— Norris's description

As with all similar items, the Lasso is not used in the game beyond unlocking a journal page. The unlocked target, Julias Grimes, along with his friend, Charlie Mash, both use lassos during the mission "MacFarlane's Ranch".

In original Revolver, this is the weapon of Longhorn Luke and Holstein Hal.

Redemption[]

The lasso is featured in Red Dead Redemption for catching and taming wild horses (Horsebreaking), cattle and for lassoing people and to hogtie criminals to take them to jail for a bounty reward. The player can also lasso criminals around the neck or feet and drag them while riding a horse. The player is unable to use the lasso while on a train as the conductor prohibits it. The Lasso is obtained during the mission "Wild Horses, Old Plums".

The Lasso is not available in multiplayer. The associated weapon slot is empty in the Weapon Wheel. However, it is available in Rootin' Tootin', Cowboy Shootin' online, where one can use it to hogtie people and drag them around or put 'em on a horse.

Although it is one of the weapons Marston can possess, players cannot "cheat" for it.
