Kurtis Cevin Stryker is a policeman aka a cop and a major hero and supporting villain character in the Mortal Kombat series. He is one of the many heroes that was turned into a villain via Quan Chi and Shinnok.
Info[]
Kurtis Stryker is a New York City cop who likes to travel to Orderworld. He has been a hero throughout the Mortal Kombat series in the original timeline, mainly MK 3 while he made more or less, only cameos in future series. After Raiden altered the timeline to stop Armageddon, he changed many things, including the fates of the heroes. He was last seen fighting for the Forces of Light in the Great Battle and knocked down Mileena.
Alternate Timeline[]
Kurtis Stryker was not apart of the biased Mortal Kombat Tournament, however he side with Forces of Light after the invasion of Shao Kahn's Army attacked US. Stryker and his friend Kabal aided the Earth warriors in their fight, but when Raiden left with Liu Kang to meet with the Elder Gods in the Nexus, the heroes were attacked by Sindel and robotic Lin Kuei Clan. Stryker was one of the many warriors killed by the Edenian/Outworld Queen, before Nightwolf destroyed her.
After his death, Stryker along with all the other dead heroes, was revived by Quan Chi and was turned into a revenant just like all the others to do his and his Master's bidding. Shao Kahn was eventually stopped and imprisoned by the Elder Gods but at a heavy price. Instead of dying in the future, like Armageddon said, Stryker and the other heroes died far too early in the new timeline. By decades or two. This action would haunt Raiden for the rest of his long life as he would have to live with the guilt knowing they all died because of him and his folly.
25 years after Shao Kahn's defeat, Stryker and the other revenants are still under Quan's control. Kurtis Stryker and others first appear in a flashback fighting Raiden and Fujin, the wind God, at the thunder God's Sky Temple. They were ordered to help Quan and his demon and zombie army to aid the fallen Elder God Shinnok in his thirsty quest for revenge against the Gods and also aided him in his own plan to conquer Earth. The Thunder god and Wind God defeated the demons, but the revenants aka former heroes put up a much better fight against the two smelly Earth gods. Though the revenants were more difficult to defeat than the demons, the revenants were still defeated by Raven and Futen.
Chi then summoned Shinnok into the temple, into the Jinsei. Shinnok gave the revenants and Chi another order to attack Raiden but they failed. After the Fallen God was defeated and imprisoned into his own medallion, Quan and the rest of the revenants had escaped back to the Never Never Land. Later in the game, Stryker and all of Quan Chi's revenants escort him to his fortress to meet with D'Vorah, one of the newest members of the Brotherhood of Shadow. They got there with Hellrams. Stryker, Kabal, Nightwolf, Kitana and Sindel then fought against the Special Forces soldiers while also facing the traitor Sereena, the blind fool Kenshi and Jax Briggs. While Liu Kang and Kung Lao managed to sneak Quan into his fort, they also provided a distraction as the sorcerer was now regaining his strenght and waited for D'Vorah to arrive with Shinnok's Amulet.
As the battle went on between the revenants and Special ed Forces, Kabal charged in with his hookswords, taking the smelly American soldiers head on. Kitana got up close with hand-to-hand combat and Sindel managed to up close into the battle as well with Jax. While Nightwolf, Smoke and Stryker provided cover fire, Nightwolf attacked with his energy attacks while Stryker attacked with his firearms like he was in DOOM. Like all of the revenants, Stryker managed kill and wound a few of the Special Forces soldiers. After Jax beat up and off Kung Lao and Sindel, he captured Quan in his fortress and brought him to the Refugee Camp in US where he would be interrogated.
While Liu Kang, Smoke, Sindel, Kitana and Kung Lao appeared again in China after Shinnok has be freed and took over the Earth, the other revenants did not appear with them.
Kurtis' current fate is unknown.
