Kochal is a three-headed Demon God, as described by an Oni in the Never Never Land. He was once a God in Hell, as odd as it sounds, and was a rumoured super unlockable in Mortal Kombat: Return of The Dragon King soon after its release. It was soon discovered that he is indeed actual and is real, as said by the Thunder God Raiden that Kochal does exist. It was revealed recently that he was actually a minor demon who managed to become a god after he destroyed a soul of a fallen god that once fell into the Never Land after he was killed by Shinnok. However, it is never mentioned specifically who this deity was. It could be one of the elemental Elder Gods that got beat by Sub-Zero during the events of Mythologies.
Info[]
Rumours of Kochal's existence began circulating due to three missions (challenges) in the Never Never Land, which involved defeating members of the Black Dragon Clan (Kobra, Kira and Kabal) to "awaken Kochal". Furthermore, some of the Onis in the Never Land would at times speak of Kochal after interacting. They claim that Kochal was a three-headed god who would transport Onis to a sorcerer who needed them. As for the challenges, behind the platforms that Kobra, Kira and Kabal stand upon, are three giant demonic skulls, which begin to pour lava from their mouths after each member is defeated. When Kochal "awakens", or more accurately, when the challenge is completed, a portal opens and transports the player back to Nekros near the portal used to enter the Never Land. The challenger would be greeted by a chest of 1000 onyx coins.
Coin Lord?[]
Kochal is often theorised by some citizens of Hell to be the "Coin Lord", because of the reward of coins earned after defeating the Black Dragon Clan trio, though this has never explicitly been stated by the Elder Gods at all. However, while only contemporary theorised, the fact that Kochal is indeed a 'Coin Lord' is still a distinct possibility, since most, if not all of the onyx coins bear the Never Land's Kamidogu.
Defeat[]
After acquiring enough power to defeat a God, the Crimson King fought Kochal at his skull-styled platform that pours out lava and managed to defeat him. Although Kochal had three heads, the King turned into his large arachnid form and even had some of his cultists present who helped him, managing to beat Kochal by stabbing him in his eyes in his middle and right head with his legs. Stunned, he used his other legs to cut off his left head and then he pushed him into the lava below, where Kochal presumably burnt to death while the King's followers cheered on.
This gave the Crimson King his position and god status, but it is not known if we have yet seen the last of Kochal.
