Joseph “Joe Val” Valentin is a Russian Mafia boss of the Valentin Family. He was briefly mentioned in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Biography[]
Joseph Valentin was born on the 7th of April (O.S. 26 March), 1907 in the Russian Empire which later became the Soviet Union. In 1957, he sent his most loyal capo named Irina Spalko to capture the Crystal Skull in order to make him the most powerful boss in all of the Russian Mafia, creating a drug dealing, gun running, and money laundering monopoly. According to Spalko, it was always his dream to go down in history as “the only man Nikita Khrushchev ever feared” (well, other than Stalin), especially because Khruschev was in favor and on the payroll of many of Valentin’s rival mafias. He was highly impressed with Irina’s powers, skills, and loyalty. He viewed her as untouchable, smart and unbreakable. He also had an underboss named Vladimir Chernov, who didn’t hold Irina in quite as high of regard but still allowed her to travel in search of the Crystal Skull.
