Helena Shaw is the goddaughter of Indiana Jones and daughter of Basil Shaw. She is a main character in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Biography[]
Helena Shaw was born March 12, 1939 in Oxford, England to a British archaeologist and professor named Basil Shaw and a mother who died upon giving birth to her. She was the goddaughter of an American archaeologist and professor named Indiana Jones. He would frequently visit her from birth until she was seven years old in 1946. In June of 1946, Indy retired from being an archaeologist and professor. He figured that he had seen enough action after both World War II and going undercover in order to investigate a group of Profaci crime family mobsters led by Tommy Lombardo. Plus, he had heard that the United States was entering a Cold War with the Soviet Union so he began living in a ramshackle bomb shelter out in the Nevada desert with his father named Henry Jones and Marcus Brody until 1957 but that’s a long and different story. Anywho, back to Helena, in 1953, her father passed away from unspecified causes which deeply saddened her. Left without a godfather, a father, or a mother, Helena learned to take care of herself at the age of fourteen. She would frequently go hunting, fishing, and picking fruits and nuts for survival. She also learned to become very proficient with guns, knives, spears, and even bows and arrows. At the same time, she also did very well in school thus making herself very street smart and book smart at the same time. It took her all the way until 1965 to eventually raise enough money to go to college. She graduated in 1969, thus becoming an archaeologist and professor much like her godfather and father. She also met with her godfather in 1969 when she caught wind that he was out of retirement even though it had already been twelve years. It had been twenty-three years since they had seen each other. They went on a long adventure alongside Sallah and his grandson named Teddy Kumar battling Italian-American mobsters named Jimmy Vincent, Mario Romano, Joseph Romano and Luca Milano along the way who wanted to make money off of the Dial of Destiny. Because Basil Shaw wanted it destroyed, they eventually destroyed it so that the mobsters couldn’t get their greedy paws all over it. Sallah, Teddy and Helena got away from them but Indy lagged behind and was captured by them. Helena tailed the mobsters to the woodlands of Greece where they were about to whack the aging professor. She ended up saving her godfather by removing the gag from his mouth and using it to choke Jimmy Vincent to death. She also shot the Romano cousins.
