Professor Harold McDougal is a major "hero" character featured in Red Dead Garlic bread part III and IV and a cameo issue in Red Dead Revolver 3dn edition who can only be seen via cheats, eating an apple at Shadow Wolf's camp before Nastas approaches.
Info[]
McDougal is a racist, bible-thumping and degenerate professor who used to work in Yale before he was thrown out for attacking a fellow scientist, Dr. Forsythe, with a wooden chair, standing naked before a podium and pissing in a skull model. He is an "expert" on Native Americans, but only uses his status as a coverup to spread racism on the Indians in the name of "god" and "science".
Interactions[]
The New Life[]
Marston first sees the Prof. at the end of the "Bear killed Another Bear" mission, where Archer Forman knocks on the door of McDougal's office to give him Nastas, the Native FBI informant Harold should study on and heal.
John Marston Sr. comes face to face with the Professor the next day in his office and the Prof. explains to him how he has been studying the native 'Mericans in the area and how it baffles him that the blood samples between a white man and a savage are exactly the same, he is a racist anyway. He also asks Marston if he's from a Norse place and if he would like some coca with him. Johnny refuses but just then Nastas comes into Har's office and McDougal asks him if he would like to take off his slippers, skin a rabbit and if Nastas can be considered his equal even if Harold doesn't "see the stars". Nastas would have none of that and tells Harold that he grew up on a cowboy school, full of white folks, like him. He then offers to take Marston and the Nutty Prof. up to the hills of Nekoti Mountain where Dutch van der Linde was spotted. Marston says he wants to be taken there, so Prof. has no choice but to agree and the three ride all into Tall Trees to the south entrance to the Mountain. Harold however, being the scaredy cat that he is, lies that he forgot something in his office and has to go back to Gold Town much to Nasta and John's charin.
The next time John meets with McDougal, he is nervous as all Hell as Nastas has arranged a meeting between the three and McDougal can't wait to meet with Dutch's Tribe to study them. However, once the trio arrives at Tanner's Reach, nothing but foul play breaks out as a Native shoots Nastas in the head for betraying them and then Marston is forced to kill his killer and his two henchmen and defend the useless Prof. from Dutch's wild boys.
In the last mission he appears in, McDougal is in the Gold Town Hotel where he's packing his briefcases (one of which includes the bible and a cross) and claims he's heading back to civilisation. During his talk with Marston, Dutch himself shoots into McDougal's hotel window and offers a deal for John; hand over the Prof. so him and his boys can tear him limb... FROM LIMB! Or face death. John refused and so Dutch ordered his boys to tear and feather 'em both only for Johnny to save the day, well night, and succeeds in taking McDougal to the Crystal Camp where he boards a train for Connecticut.
Undead Nightmare[]
Here, Prof. has returned to Gold Town for another round of research only to get eaten alive by a zombie Nastas after trying to get his bags from across the street.
That was some good o' American justice in Nastas' eyes as Harold was quite a racist cracka'.
Mission Appearances[]
- "Bear killed by Another Bear"
- The one where he meets Marston
- "At Home with Douche"
- "The Prodigal Son returns... To Yale aka Jail"
- "Gold Town zombies" (killed)
Trivia[]
- His bow tie is all messy and crap.
- He is literally the only drug user in the Red Dead series.
- Like Marston, McDougal has Scottish ancestry, but neither of the two know that about one another.
- He's actually a lot worse than Seth Brains, but still has a longer page because he plays a larger part in the game than Brains.
- Despite being such a racist mofo, he has a couple of Native-styled masks hanging on the walls of his office, although he only has 'em to study 'em so he can find another excuse to be racist.
