Giovanni Mantollini was Wise Guy of the Barzini Family and later of the Fortunato Regime. He was in charge of the Fortunato Hub at the docks of New York Harbour since 2014 in The Godfather: Control of France City and The Godfather: The Election, but was killed by Corleone Family Assassin, Jacob Redwood in late 2017.
Biography[]
Mantollini was born to an Italian-American family in New York City, and moved to France in 2006 in order to work for the Barzini Family as their Wise Guy. He first met Don Barzini himself in New York in 2005 who offered him a job he would accept only a year later. After the death of the Don and most of his family's comrades, Mantollini agreed that Paul Fortunato should be the new boss of the family and make some stronger connections in America also.
Mantollini built the Fortunato Hub up from nothing in 2014 with the help of the Fortunato Regime. He smuggled diamonds, jewellery and cars into nearby cities such as Staten Island and Brooklyn through the New York Harbour docks and his work eventually made the Hub nearly impenetrable, but it was also kept a secret from other mobs and the police from raiding it.
Quotes[]
- "I built this for nothin'! This is MY business!"
- — Mantollini to Redwood
- "You cheap penny-ante son of a whore."
- — Giovanni to Jacob
- "That seems like a fair price - you got yourself a deal."
- — Mantollini after accepting to work for Barzinis
- "Sounds like a deal. And if you got your eye on someone, just say that word."
- — Giovanni to Fortunato after promised his own racket
- "Ooooh, think you're a tough guy, huh? You've got the bawls, busta?"
- — Mantollini to Jacob
Death[]
In 2017, Jacob Redwood and a small crew of Corleone Family hitmen launched an attack on the hub, killing dozens of Barzini henchmen at the docks and in the hollowed-out old yacht that Mantollini used as his headquarters. After almost every Barzini was dead and Giovanni disarmed, Redwood tried to force Mantollini into selling his business out to the Corleones, but knowing how weakened and treacherous they are, Gio refused every offer they made and was in return killed by Jacob with a stab to the stomach with his Commando Knife. Unlike the men who sold themselves out to the Corleones only to be killed later on, Giovanni did not die a traitor. The Corleones also achieved nothing with his death and his racket is currently un-occupied.
