Johnathan "John" David Simpson (better known as Fat John) was an Underboss of the Vinci Family, who was the main bodyguard and best friend of Don Leonardo da Vinci in the 1980's until his murder in 1990.
Biography[]
Born to a father who was a lawyer and mother a psychiatrist, Fat John joined the Vinci Family in 1968 after his father's death, and ran the family's business along with Leonardo da Vinci while Don Vinci was absent. Johnny was the front boss in the 1970's when Leo became don after his father's death. Fat John was also the man who checked up on local businesses and collected debts from the shops along with Frank Triangoli, and was also an adviser to Leone Galante following the cowardly escape of Derek Barrel and Stephena Cojonez.
Death[]
Fat John was to accompany the new don Samuele Vinci to a meeting with the Marina Family on the first day of winter in 1990 to end the violence between the families, waiting at the fourth floor of Cody's Hotel in Midtown, south of NY. While going down the stairs with Vinci and his men (one of which was Mario Filippo) since the elevator broke down, Falcone Family capo, Carmine Falcone ran up the stairs up to them and blasted Fat John, Filipo and their men to death with a double-barrel Shotgun. But as he was reloading the gun, Sam Vinci kicked him down the stairs and escaped out of the hotel, escaping at the right moment. John's successor was J. Jonah Jameson Jr.
