Earl Liam McCreary is a major character in the American Crime Tales series who serves as the main protagonist if American Crime Tales: The American Dream . He is voiced by Garret Brown.

Background[]

Early Life[]

Earl McCreary was born on January 27, 1973 in Flanniagn, Queen City . He was raised with his brothers, Aiden and Patrick and was affiliated with the O'Leary Clan in his neighborhood. In the 1990's he moved toEvergreen City , a city located just 50 miles south of Queen City. After arriving in Evergreen City he became a police officer for the ECPD , having a partner named Gerald McCluskey . During his time with the ECPD he woudl witness how truly corrupt the police force was, acepting bribes from local criminals and even a porn and crack lord named George Stockton who had the police cheif, Clint Shaver in his pocket. McCreary would stand up to this corruption and was harrassed for it. 

Events of The American Dream[]

On December 31, 2002, McCreary and McCluskey arrive at the scene of a robbery and a small shootout ensues in which a man is killed, the other man who escapes goes and informs his superiors of this killing and the gang that run by Stockton plot his downfall and thanks to the police, Stockton's men find his wife and daughter . On March 20, 2003, Earl was returning from work when he noticed his house had been broken into, upon entering he found his wife and infant daughter brutally shot dead. Earl was framed for the murder due to the polcie force's dislike of his for resisiting corruption. McCreary is then placed on a transport bus to the Blackwoods Federal Prison a week later with fellow convicts, Abrams , BickleMacGruder , and Sutton. During the transport, Sutton attempts and escape, the plan backfires and results in Sutton being shot in the face with a shotgun by the guard named Axel  and the gun misfiring and killing the bus driver. The death of the bus driver results in the bus crahsing into a ditch and flipping over, killing Abrams and Bickle who breaks his neck. The occupants escape due to the chain breaking but while attempting to run, MacGruder is shot several times by Axel with a shotgun. McCreary flees the scene, running into the woods until he encounters a man while walking along the road. The man introduces himself as Richard Carcer , a private detective from Evergreen City. Carcer explains that McCreary was supposed to be let lose at the prison due to Carcer bribing them but the prison break interfiered with his plan. Carcer brings McCreary to a parked car he has around the bend and they enter where Earl meets a journalist named Kate Miller who is interested in McCreary's case. Upon returning to Evergreen City, Carcer informs him that he knows he innocent was wrongly accused and explains that he has paid a large sum of money to the judicial system in Evergreen County to not report McCreary having escaped until two days after the bus crash. Earl is given the chance at revenge and seeing that he has nothing to lose, agrees to hunt down the killers of his wife and daughter and gather evidence to prove himself innocent. Over the course of the next 24 hours, is sent to various locations in the rundown Evergreen City to track down the members of the gang known as theSaints of Hell that killed his family. Earl takes down several prominent members named Ritchie Lupino , Frank Coppola , Alex Mercer , Lenny VeNito , and a man named Jason Smith who was an associate of the gang who agrees to help McCreary in taking down Alex Mercer and his car stealing ring. After defeating each member he calls Carcer who has the FBI take the criminals away, unknown to the police, interacting with Kate and Richard along the way. After a man escapes him he reports to Stockton who becomes furious and sends his men to get McCreary. On the final night he gets kidnapped and awakens in a room tied up with Kate as well. George Stockton and his right hand man, Travis Young intergate a torture the two a small but before a commossion downstairs distracts them. A man is yelling downstairs, it is Jason is diguise, along with his gang , two men approach him and he guns them down with an UZI in the entryway of Stockton's house and starts a massive shootout with many men being killed in the process. McCreary breaks free and punches Travis in the face, knocking him down and frees Kate before they set off after Stockton who is now trying to escape, Travis who ran around back escapes in the car with him along with two heavily armed guards. McCreary and Miller enter a car with Jason and begin chasing them, suddenly corrupt cops begin chasing as well, Jason shoot their tires and they crash, they eventually see Stockton and Travis leaving for the subway in downtown, they chase after them through the station and eventually Stockton, Travis, and McCreary enter the train alone, the three meet and Stockton shoots Travis dead and then engages in a fight with McCreary, the driver is killed in the process by Stockton when he tries to intervene. The train accelerates and jumps from one track to another and loses seveal cars during the jump. The two men continue to fight and they see a train coming at them dirently, mcCreary kicks Stockton and jumps on a station before the trains collide and Stockton is killed. McCreary is "arrested" by Carcer and taken to prison where the record of him ever escaping is destroyed thanks to Carcer, and thanks to the new evidence from Richard, McCreary is freed after a months in prison. The story resumes on March 20, 2004, the year mark since his family's death, McCreary is walking at night when he encounters Kate who talks with him as they walk through the rundown streets of Evergreen City, McCreary invites her to his apartment where they talk about life and smoking. After awhile the two share a kiss and fall in love, leaving Evergreen City to go some place in the Midwest to start a new life.
