David John Henderson is a major character in the American Crime Tales series, appearing in Queen City UndergroundThe Ballad of Sean Killian and Agent Under Fire, though it is only his voice on the radio. He is voiced by James Elroy Jones.

Background[]

He was born on 27th of October, 1967 as David Von Crastenburg to a family of German and Scottish decent. His paternal grandfather named Frederich immigrated from Madgeburg, Germany following Hitler's political rise of power. When he was three years old, his father named Jonathan died in a car accident and his mother eventually remarried a year later. His step-father was the founder of Henderson Industries named Virgil Henderson and he and his Scottish mother named Mary, whose older brother was Alastair McDonovan, the leader of the Queen City's Scottish Mob, who is working alongside Giuseppino Andolinetti, the boss of Andolinetti Crime Family, as his ally, got married, changing his surname to Henderson and gave birth to David's younger half-brother, Richard. In the late 1980's and early 1990's, Henderson took over his stepfather's business after his health began failing following a heart stroke he got in 1988. The young David grew the company by expanding into television and radio broadcasting, launching over 35 TV channels and 17 radio stations across the United States, as well as founding his own supermarket chain called Henderson's Super Store. Eventually, Henderson became a well known member of the elite community in Queen City throughout the 1990's and was constantly in the public's eye. In 2000, he began working with the Mafia after he began being blackmailed by the Gambinuchi Crime Family, after one of their members had photographed him at numerous orgies he had attended under the nickname "Slim Jim". Through the years, he began doing favours for the Gambinuchis out of fear of public exposure of his dirty secrets, such as diverting the media's attention away from them with other distractions and shedding light on rival crime syndicates' operations to harm their reputation and praising Gambinuchis as a honest businessmen, whose mission is to make Queen City a little bit safer.

Events of Queen City Underground[]

In 2001, Henderson is still in the Gambinuchi Family's pocket and serves as a means of helping them hurt the Alfred family's operations by having Henderson broadcast information about the family and their operations. Henderson is first introduced in the mission "Uprising", where he tasks Aiden McCreary with blowing up a skyscraper from a rival media company and after this sends Aiden to do several "non union" jobs for him including eliminating his various business rivals. Throughout the game by either watching tv or listening to the radio, you can hear or see Henderson's broadcasts about the Alfred Crime Family. After completing all of Henderson's missons, McCreary is rewarded $100,000 for his work. Henderson is last seen celebrating with the members of the Gambinuchi family after the war with the Alfred family.

Events of The Ballad of Sean Killian[]

In 2007, Henderson is still working with the mob, not by force, but in fact by choice, still serving the same purpose as before, this time, however, he is not only helping the Gambinuchis in the media, but also owns several buildings that house legitimate Gambinuchi businessess including a bank, car dealership, a restaurant, a hotel, and several other office buildings. This time, he is first introduced after Sean Killian meets the Gambinuchis, the mission sees Sean with the help of John Callahan and John O'Leary and Neil O'Leary, burning down a large building that has been lacking in profit for Henderson, hoping to collect the insurance money from it. The men burn the building down and Henderson collects a very large insurance pension, that was twice bigger than the profit from it. Henderson's next mission sees Sean, John, Neil, and Dennis McPhearson acting as bodyguards, as David attends a gala party that he fears he will be assassinated at, sure enough members of the Russian Mob ambush the party and then, Killian and his men shoot their way out of the building, killing dozens of Russian mobsters. After the shootout at the party, they make it to Henderson's limo through the parking lot, they drive away and Henderson blows up enemy cars with a golden grenade launcher through the sunroof of the car. Several days later, Henderson and Sean Killian are kidnapped by his rival, Fred Gurner and his Russian goons taken to Gurner's office, where they are tortured before they manage to escape, kidnapping Gurner along the way and taking him to a warehouse along the river. Henderson later calls Killian back to the warehouse where Gurner reveals that he and another rival of Henderson's, Ike Blumenthal were going to share their success together along with the Russian Mafia after they killed Henderson, he then personally executes Gurner with a silenced pistol with a shot to the head. Eventually the BFI and IIA discover that the arson was an insurance scam and raid his building, Henderson escapes and calls Killian and he drives him to the airport where he makes his escape to Miami, Florida. Before he leaves from the airport, he informs Killian that Ike Blumenthal's motorcade will be arriving at the airport in a few hours. Killian kills Blumenthal where he arrives at the airport along with the Russian mobsters, who was guarding him, eliminating all of Henderson's business rivals in Queen City, except his brother Richard, who lives in Limeshore and severely damaging the Russian Mafia's business assets.

Agent Under Fire[]

By 2009, Henderson eventually returned to Queen City from Miami and continued to operate his company, having been released from the charges brought against them, presumably by the Gambinuchi family and can be heard in several radio advertisements, though no TV appearances are present, until the end of the game, when he appeared on the television to introduce himself as a candidate for a Senator of the New Porter state.
