Catnip is a Siamese cat, who is likely of Mediterranean, Eastern European, or Jamaican descent (probably all three) and from the Northeast. She only made an appearance in Sanrio's 1987 work entitled Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theatre, where she was notorious for playing roles such as Darth Vader, Captain Hook, Ebenezer Scrooge, Count Dracula, Dr. Frankenstein and various fairytale villains in plays that Hello Kitty and her friends put on. She was voiced by Cree Summer Francks. The likely reason she has never appeared in any Sanrio work since is because she and her bulldog companion named Grinder probably joined a gang of some form.
Catnip and Grinder also signed contracts with mobsters in order to advance their careers in a similar fashion to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, George Raft, and James Cagney. In fact, they often eat at fancy steak and seafood houses with mobsters. Despite being a cat, Catnip also has a taste for fancy clothes and cars. In fact, “Catnip” is probably either a stage name, a nickname the mobsters gave her or both.
KGBSpetsnaz LOVES Catnip a whole lot more than Hello Kitty and her friends. Catnip just has more style and personality than them, ya know?
