The Army of Darkness is an army, largely made up of demons and other hellish entities, created by Shinnok during his banishment in the Never Never Land.
After his escape from the Never Land with the help of the demon sorcerer Quan Chi, Shinnok used this Army of Darkness to invade Edenia. However, Raiden and the Earth warriors were able to stop Shinnok's advance, and his army was eventually defeated.
The evil, damned army of Shinnok can be seen in the official Mortal Kombat 4 comic, were some of the demons tried to kill Fujin, who was saved by Raiden, Liu Kang and Kai. It is revealed that one of the high commanders of the army was Reiko himself.
It is also known that they are responsible for creating Justin Bieber and his Russian clone, Roma Acorn, so now the world is pretty fuked up by their music. But they also created Arsis, which is a cool death metal band. Oh, and also Bloodbath, Deicide and Watain.
