Archer Forman is a supporting character and a secondary antagonist featured in Red Dead Redemption part I, American West and part III, The New Life. He is also a minor villain in both Rootin' Tootin', Cowboy Shootin' and Red Dead Revolver 3dn edition.

Forman is a junior agent in the early FBI (at that time; BOI) and the protegé of senior agent Edgar Rose. He is characterised as being assertive, aggressive and exceedingly capable at his profession, yet more hot-headed and impulsive than his cold and calculating mentor. It should also be noted that Archer has a bit of a less wit than Rose.

Revolver 3dn edition[]
Archer appears as a minor boss-type enemy with a health-bar during the last segment of the "House Of Cards" mission in the Mayor's library, but is killed by Jack Marston before he duels Edgar Rose.
American West[]
Forman is first seen alongside Edgar Rose, escorting John Marston through Gold Town in the opening credits of American West. Forman has participated with Rose in the detention of Marston Family and his extortion to pursue his fellow gang members which include: Bill Williamson, Dutch van der Linde and Javier Escuella. Unless Marston brings his former gang members to justice and to his chiefs in Gold Town, his family will be dealt with.
The New Life[]
Forman is not seen again until much later in part III after the player captures Javier Escuella in Mexico. Forman arrives by a motor car with Rose and reiterates that Marston must deal with Williamson and return to West Virginia to scout around for Douche.
Forman unwaveringly supports Rose in his dishonourable methods. However, unlike Rose, Forman appears to develop a respect of sorts for Marston during the last few missions he is in with him. Participating in a handful of engagements with Dutch van der Linde, Forman demonstrates himself as exceedingly capable in combat, regardless of what Johnny thinks.
In the last moments of the game, Forman joins his master, the US Marshals and the American Army in killing off John Marsten at Beecher's Hope.
RTCS[]
Forman appears only in the game's epilogue, hanging around with his boss, Ed Rose, and discovering Gicov Bell and Leopold Strauss' corpses on top of Mount Harris. He also appears in the next scene, spying on the Marstons from afar on Beecher's Hope farm.
Trivia[]
- Forman's mother, Maybelle, has been dead since July 24th, 1881/119 BH, and is buried at Gold Town cemetery. Quotes from random citizens regards Archer's mother's death. Due to the fact that the Gold Town Massacre occurred in 1879/121 BH, it is possible that she was injured and later died from surgical complications or infection. However, this is just a theory and she probably died from some unrelated causes or maybe Archer accidentally killed her with the kitchen's grandfather clock, pushing it on her when she refused to fix him his morning coffee.
- He uses a Cattleman revolver in the earlier missions, but switched it for a High Power Pistol, just as Edgar did.
- Even though Forman is Rose's partner-in-law, like Jonah and Eli, they actually contrast. Rose wears lighter clothes while Forman wears dark clothes (Jonah wears red clothes while Eli wears grey and yella'), Rose is old while Fordham is young (Jonah is skinny while Eli is fat), Rose is short while Forman is tall (Jonah is dumb and rude while Eli is friendly and less naive) and, most importantly, Rose is deceitful, witty and sardonic while Forman is honest, hot-headed and blunt.
- During "The Last Enemy That Shall Be Destroyed", Forman is usually mistaken with Isaac McKinnon, but he still does appear, just not close to Rose.
- Forman doesn't have a journal page directly in Red Dead Revolver 3dn edition, but he should count as a part of the Marshals, even though he is not a marshal at all and he is not photographed standing near the marshals on the journal page's image.
- Forman presumably died when he was shoot in the ribs and shoulder on 13 February, 1909/91 BH, by an outlaw back in his hometown of Montana in a shootout between the law and the criminals. It is unknown against what gang the law was fighting against.
