History[]

Anthony was born in Sicily, Italy in 1911. He was married to Signora Corleone to whom he allowed to have their children surnamed after her. They were originally suppose to have two children: a daughter named Maria who would be born in 1947 but they decided for an abortion in one of the legal clinics and a son named Vito Corleone, born in 1950.

While his children were still young, he moved his family to America in the hope of escaping poverty they had suffered in Sicily. However, even in their new home in Hunters Point, a better life evaded them and years of hardship followed as they struggled to make ends meet in a strange and alien country. It is believed he was a serious borrower and an alcoholic.

In 1954, Antonio finally died. After Vito left for the war in Italy, Signora discovered Antonio had taken money from a loan-shark named Bruno Levine totalling $2,000, believing he could help his family until he found a better job than his current occupation as a dock worker for Derek Barrel.

Late in the game, it is revealed that Barrel ordered the death of Antonio, and his right-hand-man Stephena Cojonez followed the order by drowning him to death at the docks. This was covered up with a story, Derek saying that he: "fell into the water, apparently drunk". However, Vito's comment about "following in his father's footsteps" suggest that Antonio was engaged in some less than legal business with Derek, perhaps a "better job" in order to pay Bruno back.

Trivia[]

  • Antonio spent most of his money on alcohol, cigs and possibly drugs while working at the docks in America and even in his youth.
  • Vito inherits most of his father's features as they both look very alike. Many of Derek Barrel's dock workers commented on this.
  • Vito cared about his father, even though he was a poor drunkard and when he discovered Antonio died by being drowned to death by Stephena Cojonez, Vito fails to avenge his father's death by killing Cojonez, as he escapes Vito's wrath.
