Anton Volkov is a supporting antagonist in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (2020) who only appeared in one mission.
Biography[]
Anton Volkov was born August 12, 1924 in Moscow, Russia. By 1961, he rose to the ranks of a capo within his Russian Mafia clan and represented their businesses in East Berlin, Germany. He was involved in smuggling drugs, guns and other merchandise into the Eastern Bloc. He was arrested by the Stasi a few times but was released through his connections to an agent of theirs named Franz Krause.
In 1981, Anton Volkov was under investigation by both the CIA and MI6 as well as the KGB and Stasi. The Stasi finally suspected that Franz Krause was up to something and wanted him either jailed or dead alongside Anton Volkov. Russell Adler, Helen Park, and Lazar Azoulay (representing the USA, the UK and Canada respectively) were in a race against a KGB spy ring known as Perseus in order to pinch Anton Volkov in order to show that they were better at apprehending criminals than those rotten commies. They used a Soviet defector to the CIA codenamed Bell in order to get to Anton Volkov through Franz Krause. Bell snuck into Franz’s house and was knocked out by Franz from behind once his son was about to go to sleep, caught him and asked him if he was the Tooth Fairy. When Bell regained consciousness, he was taken to the hideout of Anton Volkov where he was interrogated. Right as Volkov and Krause were getting ready to cap Bell, Adler, Park and Azoulay came to his rescue, killing Krause and Park set him free. What ensued was Bell chasing after Volkov on foot with his three friends fending off Russian mobsters who got in his way. Volkov was then backed into a corner and killed by Bell. This angered Park because she wanted him alive so that he could testify against his crime syndicate. However, Adler and Lazar could care less because the KGB would’ve also probably killed him anyway and the whole mission was mostly just a side mission to show who can provide more law and order anyway.
