- "Be black it ain't none of my business. Hell, Lincoln was one of the few Republicans I actually respect. However, I say, we still need to separate the bad southerners from the good ones. Not all of them owned slaves, y'know?"
- — Aldous on the race issues and the post-Civil War issues in an interview
Aldous Warthington is a minor, but rather crucial character featured in Red Dead Redemption part III, The New Life and the game lore as a whole. Although not seen in that particular mission, he plays a part in the strange side-mission "American Lobbyist" as a mentioned-only, overarching character.
Info[]
A prominent member of the American political elite, residing in West Virginia, Warthington is a vocal opponent of the current/former President and ex-mayor of Gold Town, Nate Johnson. His accusations against Johnson range from "corruption and vote-rigging to extortion, gerrymandering and sexual depravity." Additionally, he feels that Johnson's financial stakes in local businesses and the automotive companies which even his daddy led, compromise and fail his ability to be a fair, morally-strong and just leader. Johnson, for his part, dismisses the claims, calling Warthington a hack, a sack of crap and states that his allegations are "nothing more than jealous slurs of a pitiful man, desperately clinging to his career like a drowning man to a piece of wood in the Fat Iron Lake."
Interactions[]
Although not name-dropped and the two protagonists act like they don't know him, Aldous and his sweet wife make a small cameo during the mission "Son returns to Jail (or Yale)", when John Marston and Harold McDougal barge into his and his wife's hotel room in order to use the ladder outside to climb on the roof and avoid Dutch's Tribe. Aldous is outraged at the two bargaining in and his wife yells, but Marston tells the two to be quiet as he entraps their door in order to buy him and the Prof. some time before the Douche and his red boys come after the two.
In the side-mission "American Lobbyist", Jack Marston is hired by Warthington's Assassin to visit Nate Johnson and show him compromising photographs of his sexual proclivities so he can step down as mayor, as the assassin claims that killing Johnson is his section option, plus killing Nate would bring a lot of heat down on him and the general public would be in shock, which could be especially bad for Aldous if it was ever found out that he ordered the hit. Johnson then agrees to cease any further criticism of Warthington and Aldous is elected the new mayor soon after, but never becomes the President.
Trivia[]
- We need some better images for him, I swear.
- Aldous wears two rings on his fingers. One can assume that one is his wedding ring while the other is for fancy looks.
- He looks a bit similar in appearance to King Henry VIII.
- His only direct quote in the game is "Look here sir, what is the meanin' of this... this outrage?!" when Johnny and Harold barge into his and his wifu's hotel room.
