Info[]
Abigail Marston, real surname Roberts, was born in 157 BH in America in an orphanage ran by a guy named Father Callahan, possibly the same guy who owned the orphanage where Whiskey Treadwell was in. Abigail eventually became part of Dutch's Gang after being introduced to them all by Grandpa Marston in 1875, the father of her future husband, John Marston. As a prostitute, she slept with most of the members of the gang, except the women and the gay guys, but ultimately fell in love with John and became pregnant with their son, Jack Marston, who would grew up with Dutch's gang like a family. Abigail cared for John deeply and tried to get him to show more interest in their son, Jack, instead of only beating him and groping him. This resulted in arguments between the two, however, as John wasn’t convinced that Jack deserved to be treated well and would often beat him up until he fell over and then John would tell Dutch van der Linde that it was Abi's fault.
Interactions[]
Revolver[]
Abigail is only seen in the beginning mission "Beecher's Hope", where she and Jack Marston hug John Marston tightly after his gold prospecting trip. Abby and John then went inside the farmhouse while Jacky went down the river to practice with the Pistol his daddio gave him. After the ranch is attacked by outlaws, Johnny and Jackie fight the scum, but in vain, as John and Abby are killed by said outlaws outside the house.
Abi is seen only once again, in Jack's flashback of "Battle Finale", where he remembered his father and mother at Beecher's.
RTCS[]
Abigail first appears after travelling with the rest of Dutch's Gang through the snowy and cold mountains following their botched ferry heist in Gold Town, taking shelter in an abandoned mining town which was once occupied by the ancient elves. She points out that Davey Calendar had succumbed to his wounds. Not long after, she reluctantly requests that Arthur Morgan goes out into the snowstorm and brings back John Marston who had went missing. The one who helps Morgan in finding Johnny is none other than the Mexican-looking Spaniard, former bounty hunter, Javier Escuella. When John is returned, she scolds him for his actions and for nearly getting eaten by wolves. Soon before the gang robs a Leviticus Cornwall train, she and Jack visit John, and Abigail becomes angry at John’s lack of interest for their own son, but Johnny only threatens to beat them both up if they bother him again.
Seeing that Morgan would make a much better father-figure than Jhonny, she orders Arther to take Jacky out fishing, there's a good boy.
Later Abigail becomes horrified when Jack is nowhere to be found or heard, and learns that Jack was abducted by the Copperbottoms after some chatter with the local wildlife. The big, bad leader known as Dutch van der Linde promises to bring Jack back to her, and she becomes horribly distraught when the gang learns that he was not at the Copperbottom manor, but instead in an Italian one in St. Pennis.
After Arthur, John, and Dutch succeed in getting Jack back from Angelo Tattaglia after doing some grave-protecting missions for him, he rushes over to Jack and hugs him while John calls the entire thing 'puh-thetic'.
After the gang fails in robbing a bank in St. Penis, Johnny gets captured and is put in Sisika Jail which Abby finds out and gets worried as all hell. She wants to get John back, but Douche wants none of it, believing John to be a traitor for the Pinkerton Detective Agency. Secretly, Morgan and Sadie Adler promise to bust John out of prison and bring him back to Mrs. Marstn.
During a train robbery that the gang carried out, Abby was captured by Agent Larry Milton and his men and taken hostage at Copperhead Landing's docks. When Morgan busts into the cabin to rescue Abigail, Morgan gets into a fight with Milton, whom was gaining the upperhand as Morgan had TB, but before Milton can finish the job, Abigail unties herself and shoots him in the head. Morgan then tells Abby to get Jack and leave, as Douche's bunch is on the verge of breaking apart.
We next see Abby in the story about a year later when she and John change their names and work at Geddes' ranch as helpers and also live there. After busting their butts off and killing some Riders to get enough money to move out on their own, they relocate themselves to Beecher's Hope, where Abigail and John marry and Sadie Adler gets the honour of being Abigail's witness.
A while later, Sadie and Charles Smiff catch wind of Gicov's Gang hiding on Mount Harris and they seek revenge for Gicov Bell and Leopold Strauss betraying the gang and getting Arthur killed. John agrees to their plan much to Abigail's dismay and she stays home alone (not the movie) with Jack Marston.
John, Jack, Gramps and Abigail live a good life after Gicov and Strauss' deaths, but only for a while, before the FBI come knocking on their door and take Abigail and Jacky away to strong-arm John into hunting down the remnants of his old gang and avenge Gicov.
The New Life[]
After John finally takes care of William Williamson and Dutch van der Linde, he returns back to Beecher's Hope into Abby's arms, only to be greeted with insults for not showing up for so long. Jack and Grandpa also later reunite with him. The Marstons live well for a week or so and Abigail even gets to meet Boonie MacFarlane in Texas, before the American Army, Marshals and the FBI, lead by Edgar Rose, invade the farm to kill the last member of Douche's old gang: John. During the gunfight between the Marstons and Rose's group, Abigail and Jack leave on a horse to be left alone.
After Grandpa and John are killed, the US Govt. leaves and Abigail and Jack return to the ranch only to find John dead in a pool of his own blood.
Death[]
Due to the stress and sadness she had to endure after John's death, Abigail commits suicide a year later and her son buries her atop the Beecher's Hope hill.
She dies at the age of 37 in 1890/110 BH.
Journal Entry[]
Despite dying early in Jack's childhood at the hands of outlaws, I'm sure Abigail would be very proud to know what a tough warrior her son has became.
Trivia[]
- It is often stated by the entire Marston Family that she is a bad cook. In fact, John Marston will even say that Pearson is a much better cook than her.
- In "American Venom", Abigail will tell Grandpa to cook the dinner, to which John will retort that it is not a bad idea and that Gramps can actually cook quite well.
- She become very jealous when she heard Boonie MacFarlane's name, seeming to believe that John was attracted to her and had sex with her while he was hunting for Bill Williamson.
- Her role in Revolver is replaced by Falling Star, mother of Red Harlow.
- In multiplayer, she wears different clothes than in single player. In singleplayer, her outfit is a blue top and a plaid pink long skirt, but in multiplayer, her outfit is white and blue with squares and she has blue ridding pants so the player can ride a horse with her. She also owns a dark yellow, brownish-looking holster.
- Abigail is illiterate, unlike John.
- Despite her pleas for John to change and despite John's farming efforts to change himself, Abigail was ultimately correct in John's actions getting them all killed.
- Gicov Bell can be seen attempting to flirt with Abigail in the camp and even adopt Jack Marston, but she would have none of that.
- Furthermore, Abigail always thought Javier Escuella was creepy-looking and that Williamson was dumb and cowardly.
- She is called a Whore by many characters in the game, something which she literally was, including by Williamson, Gicov Bell, Dutch van der Linde, Edgar Rose and possibly Archer Forman.
