Template:BE TemplateBaby Mozart is the 2nd Baby Einstein video in the series. It was completed in late 1997 and released on February 1, 1998. reissued later that same year, and was the 1st of the Discovery Kit series in 2010. It was the first music episode from both the original and Discovery Kit video series. At the time of 1997, there was a popular scientific theory which stated that Mozart music made babies smart, and the idea for Baby Mozart was born. In 2000, the sound design for Baby Mozart was updated by Bill Weisbach. A new Baby Mozart CD came out when the sound design was updated. In late 2004, Baby Mozart had some footage replaced with different toys and updated the credits. In late 2008, some other replacement footage and another updated credits was used as well as having Baby Mozart the Koala as the host of the video alongside other new puppets put in the video. It is a music video sequel to Language Nursery, a language video.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first video to include classical music and to have emphasis on it.
  • This is the first video to have classical music by Mozart.
  • When this video was first released, it was marketed as a sequel to Language Nursery.
  • Highlights from the film, plus other tracks, can be heard in the Baby Mozart CD: A Concert for Little Ears and the audiocassette.
  • This is the first video to include Baby Einstein Puppets & the only video that has Tim Giugni as a puppeteer for the video.
    • This is also the only time to include Baby Einstein Puppets, but doesn't have neither one of them as the host or co-host of the video, along with the previous and next videos (which don't feature them at all). However, the 2008 version of this has a puppet as the host of it (Baby Mozart the Koala (previously established in Baby Noah).
  • This is the only one of the pre-1999 videos to have a later puppet-appearing/hosted version for video.
  • The Mini Orbiter by Rabbit Tanaka later returns in Baby Galileo.
  • The Tornado Lamp by Kenart and Phineas the Frog Puppet by Dakin later return in Baby Neptune.
  • Alien Orbiter by Uncle Milton, the Fiber Optic Butterfly by Spencer's Gifts and The Wave Machine by Lava later return in Baby Van Gogh.
  • The Tin Drum by Schylling, which appeared in the 2004 version, later returns in Meet the Orchestra and Baby Beethoven 2008.
  • In the Discovery Kit, they reused a few scenes from Baby Bach, which are Max the Animated Terrier Dog by Iwaya, Balloons, Lava Lamp by Lava, Cosmos Kinetic by Golden Island, Disco Ball by AADLP, and Musical Bubble Bear by Link Group, possibly due to the fact that Baby Bach did not get a Discovery Kit release.
  • The Plush Girl Doll by Baby Gap, the Raggedy Ann by Applause, the Baby's Music Box by Shelcore, the My First Christmas Bear by Eden, the Metronome by Wittner, the Chiming Octopus by Jolly Toys, the Musical Push n' Go Merry by TOMY, the Seedlings Colorful Windmill by Summer Lane, the Sherberts Pig Plush by Eden, the Pipsqueak the Pup by Lamaze, the Liquid Motion Tumbler by Carlisle, the Venus Rotating Fiber Optic Lamp by Spencer Gifts, the Flower Globe Light by Spencer Gifts, and the Curious Creatures: Happy Starfish by The First Years were all previously seen on Language Nursery.
  • The Original cover had a Mozart the Yellow Bear on it, but in 2004 (2003 in foreign language releases) it got replaced with Baby Mozart the Koala, and was changed back in 2010, but redesigned.
  • This was the second and last video to be produced by I Think I Can Productions before it was renamed Aigner-Clark Productions, and later to The Baby Einstein Company.
  • Around the time of the CD's initial release, along with Baby Bach, the classical music was redone.
  • The Rikki Rooster by Iwaya later returns in Baby MacDonald. A white version of the toy is also seen in the updated version of Baby Bach.
  • The Magic Jet by BAO Toys (from the 2004 version) later returns in On The Go.
  • The 2008 version has the final appearance of Baby Lamb, 1st Version of Duck, 1st Version of Baby MacDonald the Cow, and Isaac the Lion all in PlaySoup form.
  • This is the last out of the 2 videos (the 1st being Baby Einstein) to contain unique video tutorials (called a 2-minute discussion) at the end of VHS releases.
  • Mozart's Symphony No. 41, "Jupiter", was later reused in Baby Galileo, but Bill Weisbach extended the same movement within the 1st movement ending to fit in with the full music video, and he also used more Baby Galileo instruments rather than the original ones from the Baby Mozart 2000 CD version.
  • This is Bard's first appearance. He reappears in Baby Shakespeare.
  • This is Papagino Dolphin's first appearance. He reappears in Baby Noah.
  • This is the only time Baby Mozart the Koala wears his vest.
  • This video along with Language Nursery are the only two videos to be filmed in Alpharetta, Georgia.
  • This video was filmed and completed in late 1997.
  • This is the only video to be filmed at Small Fry Productions in Alpharetta, Georgia, who also produced the Brainy Baby series and the Bilingual Baby series.
  • This is the first time Bill Weisbach works as a voice actor, doing Bard's "Blah!", and the bulldog barks.
  • The 2000-2002 DVD Concert Hall has music from the Baby Mozart Concert for Little Ears CD with Bedtime and Playtime. The CD is enclosed on the Baby Mozart 2000 VHS. The Baby Mozart Soundtrack CD is also enclosed in the 2001 VHS in which it only features the Mozart pieces heard in the video, same as the 2002/2003 VHS tapes, However, in the CD enclosed on the 2004 VHS, Piano Sonata No. 15 in F Major, K. 533, 3rd Movement by Mozart is the only Mozart piece to be on the Baby Einstein Musical Audio Sampler CD enclosed on the 2004 VHS.
  • In the initial 1998 and 1999 releases on VHS and CD, Bill Weisbach used MIDIs to compose the music. However, when Artisan acquired Baby Einstein in 2000, he recomposed the pieces by hand due to the tracks sounding unpolished.
  • The same color credits later return in Baby MacDonald and Baby Monet.
  • A Baby Mozart VHS can be seen on a Christmas Gift pile in the Season 9 episode of FRIENDS, The One with Christmas in Tulsa.

Goofs[]

  • Before we meet Bard for the first time, a bit of his lip/snout can be seen before he appears, and you can also see some interlacing combing as well.
  • In the initial 1998 release, Bard freezes when the page turns to the picture of lemons. This is fixed in all future releases.
  • In the initial 1998-1999 releases, Baby Elephant's nose goes down after the second trumpet. This freezes and stays up in all future releases.
  • In the initial 1998-1999 releases while transitioning from Playful Circus Seals to Animal Marching Band Toy, the screen turns to black on the Circus Seals footage.
  • Although Mark Burr is credited for the videography in the 2000 release and onward, he was not involved with this video, nor Baby Einstein as a whole until Baby Bach began production in late 1998.
