Template:BE Template Baby Beethoven is the 10th Baby Einstein video in the series to be released. It is the fourth music episode from the original and the second in the Discovery Kit series, and presented in a similar format to Baby Mozart and Baby Bach, using musical compositions accompanying footage of toys and other novelty items. As the name suggests, and made as a musical sequel to Baby Shakespeare, the classical music of Baby Beethoven was composed by Ludwig van Beethoven, albeit rearranged with softer instruments by Bill Weisbach. It was reissued on August 5, 2003 in the Bronze Age (the same day as Baby Galileo was released) and edited out the "Thank You" credit that was used in all of videos in the original style packaging layout. It was re-released in 2004 with some changes, then again in 2008, and then as the 4th Discovery Kit in 2010. This also the third and last music episode from the series to be based on a composer since Baby Vivaldi was not released on video.

Trivia[]

  • This is the last video from the Clark Era. Here are several reasons why:
    • This is the last video to be filmed in Lone Tree (one of the locations they filmed during the era), Disney videos from the franchise were never filmed at that location.
    • This is the last Baby Einstein video to have an FBI Warning at the start of the program.
    • This is the last DVD to use the original 2000-2002 DVD menu style and to have a concert hall selection until the Discovery Kits.
    • This was the last video directed by Julie Aigner-Clark until the discovery kits.
      • On top of that, this is also the last video Julie Aigner-Clark involved in until Numbers Nursery (not counting her founder's credit in the next two videos and her narrations in the 2009 release of one of the said videos).
  • Despite being named after and dedicated to the composer, this is in fact the fourth Baby Einstein video to feature Beethoven's music.
  • This is the first Baby Einstein video to use a new and more structured packaging layout as opposed to the one used on prior videos; it features the franchise's logo on the front and spine cover of the video and on the tape and disc and features images from the video on the back. This was however the only video to use this specific packaging design.
  • This is the first video to have a Toys courtesy of during the end credits.
  • This is the first video to feature a new video tutorial titled About Baby Einstein.
    • However it is slightly different than how it was featured in the next three videos (Baby Neptune, Baby Galileo, Numbers Nursery), and it was shown at the beginning rather than at the end on the 2002 VHS release.
  • This is the last video in the music composer-based trio series: the other two are Baby Mozart and Baby Bach.
    • On top of that, this video is also the musical sequel to Baby Shakespeare, a language episode with featuring only music by Ludwig van Beethoven.
    • This is also the first music episode, and the only one of the music composer-based trio series to feature Baby Einstein puppets with one of them as the host. However, the 2008 version of the video has a puppet as the host of it (Baby Mozart the Koala (previously established in Baby Noah and on the front cover of the 2004 re-release of the video)).
  • This is the first video to have June Privett as a puppeteer, even though she was uncredited in the closing credits until the 2008 re-release.
  • Some of the pieces are not on the Baby Beethoven - Concert for Little Ears CD due to being made in 1999. But, some additional pieces (not all of them) were available on Playtime Music Box, Baby Noah, and Playdate Fun.
  • This is the first appearance of Baby Beethoven The Giraffe in PlaySoup form as well as the first appearance of Baby Lamb in cartoon form.
  • The only new puppet introduced in this video is Baby Beethoven The Giraffe while the rest were recycled from the previous video, Baby Newton. The puppets from this video would all return in Numbers Nursery, with the exception of Isaac the Lion.
  • This is the second and last original video to be released in the Disney Merger Era (not counting the late-2002 Neighborhood Animals and World Animals reissues).
    • Ironically, all the puppets that appeared in the previous video in the era appear in this as well (except for Baby Beethoven The Giraffe).
  • This is the one of the only two videos in the Clark Era made following Disney's acquisition of the company, and to use puppets designed and built by Dave Privett at PlaySoup. The other is the previous video, Baby Newton.
    • Ironically, they are from the Disney Merger Era and feature the same puppets in both videos (except for Baby Beethoven The Giraffe).
    • This is also the only Julie Aigner-Clark video to originally use a new and more structured packaging layout, which all Disney videos would use (not counting the late-2002 reissues of Neighborhood Animals and World Animals).
  • The illustration photos used throughout the video are taken from See and Spy Counting, See And Spy Shapes, and Jane’s Animal Expedition, although most of them are heavily modified.
  • The Triple Rainbow Pinwheel by New Tech Kites, the Geo-Jewel Star Crystalite by White Eagle, and the Wind Dazzlers: Sunny by New Tech Kites appeared later in Baby Galileo.
  • The Pull-Along Bullfrog was later seen in World of Words.
  • The Teeter-Totter Boys Pull Toy was later seen in Baby's Favorite Places and World of Rhythm.

  • The Tin Drum by Schylling was previously seen on 2004 of Baby Mozart and Meet The Orchestra.
  • The Saxophone by Bontempi was previously seen on Baby Bach and was later seen in Meet The Orchestra.
  • In the 2008 release, the ABC Soft Blocks by Jack Rabbit Creations and Roly Poly Balls by Jack Rabbit Creations were shown in the Toy Chest for some reason, but it did not appear in the video.
  • On top of that, the 2002 DVD Concert Hall has music from the video, with one bonus track, but it was never released on CD. However, on the Sampler CD enclosed on the 2002-2003 VHS, Symphony No. 9, Op. 125, 4th Movement is the only Ludwig van Beethoven piece to be heard on the CD Sampler and the Baby Einstein Musical Audio Sampler CD enclosed on the 2003 VHS has the same music as the Baby Beethoven Audio Sampler CD enclosed on the 2002 VHS.
  • In the Discovery Kit, the Contradance No. 1 in C Major and Sonatina in F Major are not in the Baby Beethoven Concert Hall.
  • This is the 4th Baby Einstein video to not contain stock footage. First being Language Nursery, Baby Mozart, and Baby Bach.
  • Isaac the Lion doesn't return in his first version in PlaySoup form until the 2008 version of Baby Mozart, as in his next appearance in Baby Noah, he was shown in his second version formed by the company.
  • This video has the most toys.
  • This is the last DVD to not have a Disney DVD bumper when the play button is pressed.
  • The audio clip of Pavlov screaming was later used for Duck's scream in Baby Neptune.
  • This video has many differences to what previous videos in the Clark Era have when it was originally released (not counting the late-2002 reissues of Neighborhood Animals and World Animals).
    • It uses a new and more structured packaging layout and features images from the video on the back.
    • It features the About Baby Einstein tutorial rather than an ordinary Baby Einstein tutorial.
    • It has a Toys courtesy during the end credits.
